PWD Tamilnadu Apprentice Recruitment 2026: 760 Training Vacancies; Online Application!

The Public Works Department (PWD), Tamilnadu has issued a new notice inviting online applications from Graduate and Diploma holders in Engineering, as well as Non-Engineering Graduates, who want to undergo a structured one year Apprenticeship training programme. This engagement is being made strictly as per the provisions of the Apprenticeships (Amendment) Act, 1973 and is open only to candidates who belong to Tamilnadu and who have passed their qualifying examination in the year 2022, 2023, 2024 or 2025.

Eligibility Criteria:

Criteria for Eligibility

• Category I – Graduate Apprentices: A regular, full-time degree course in Engineering or Technology from any statutory university or equivalent qualification as per State/Central government approval in Civil, Electrical & Electronics Engineering or Architecture.

• Category II – Technician Apprentices: A regular, full-time diploma in Engineering or Technology from any State Board of Technical Education or equivalent institution in the same above-discussed three branches.

• Category III – Non-Engineering Graduates: A regular, full-time approved degree course in BA/BSc/BCom/BBA/BCA/BBM from any statutory/deemed university.

Age limit:

As per the Apprenticeship Rules prevailing in force.

Vacancy Reservation:

The benefits of vacancy reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PwD will be provided strictly in accordance with the Apprentices Act provisions. As far as aspirants seeking reservation are concerned, they should upload the prescribed certificate; otherwise, their application will be considered as a general applicant application. If the aspirant is an MBC or BC seeking OBC benefit, he/she should produce the OBC (Non-cream layer) certificate.

Training/Experience:

Those who have completed or are undergoing apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act or have one year or more of work experience are not eligible to apply for the present recruitment process.

Selection Process

•     The shortlisting will be done solely based on merit of the applicant in the qualifying Graduate/Diploma/Non-Engineering graduate examination by the Board of Apprenticeship Training (Southern Region).

•     The candidates who get shortlisted will be notified only through the registered email ID.

•     After that, the selected applicants should attend personally for certificate verification at the PWD office Chennai.

Procedure to Apply:

1.         The candidates need to register/log in from the website of National Apprenticeship Training Scheme at nats.education.gov.in.

2.         New registrants need to click on ‘Student Register’ and create their new profile and also obtain their 12 digit enrolment number.

3.         For those having existing login details on either the old site or the new one, they need to change their password using the ‘Forgot Password’ option.

4.         After logging in, search for Public Works Department Tamilnadu and select apply against advertised vacancies section and click apply.

5.         Entry of percentage of marks/CGPA x 10 is mandatory and applications without that information will not be entertained.
