Indian Navy Agniveer Apprentice Recruitment 2026: The Indian Navy – Directorate of Manpower Planning & Recruitment, Naval Headquarters, New Delhi – has officially invited online applications from unmarried Indian male candidates for the Agniveer (Apprentice) 01/2027 and 02/2027 Batches under the Agnipath Scheme. This is a landmark opportunity for young men with engineering and technical diploma qualifications to serve the nation as Agniveers in the world’s fifth-largest naval force for a period of four years.
The online application window is open from 05 June 2026 (10:00 hrs) to 29 June 2026 (17:00 hrs) exclusively through the official website https://joinindiannavy.gov.in. Candidates are strongly advised to apply well before the deadline to avoid last-minute technical issues. The Stage I – Indian Navy Entrance Test (INET 2/2026) is tentatively scheduled for August 2026.

Educational Qualification
Candidates must have passed Matriculation Examination with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from Boards of School Education recognised by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, AND completed a three-year diploma from an AICTE-recognised Polytechnic Institute with minimum 50% marks in aggregate in any of the following streams:
- Engineering Stream: Marine Engineering & Systems, Mechanical, Production/Automobile, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Repair & Maintenance, Power Plant Engineering, Industrial/Production, Maintenance, Machine, Manufacturing/Manufacturing Technology, Mechatronics, Metallurgy, Instrumentation, Electronics Instrumentation and Control Engineering.
- Electrical Stream: Electrical and Electronics , Electronics & Communication, Electrical, Instrumentation Technology, Electronics, Electronics Instrumentation and Control Engineering.
Note: Candidates enrolled under lateral entry schemes or ex-servicemen categories are not eligible for Agniveer (Apprentice) recruitment.

Note: Candidates born between 01 December 2004 and 31 October 2009 are eligible to appear for INET 2/2026. Based on batch-specific age criteria, they will be shortlisted for Stage II of the respective batch (01/2027 or 02/2027).
Marital Status & Other Conditions
- Only unmarried Indian male candidates are eligible for enrolment as Agniveer (Apprentice).
- Candidates must give a certificate of being ‘unmarried’ at the time of enrolment. Agniveers shall NOT be permitted to marry during their entire four-year tenure.
- A candidate will be dismissed from service if he marries during his tenure or is found to be already married despite furnishing an ‘unmarried’ certificate.
- Ex-Servicemen are NOT eligible for the Agniveer (Apprentice) entry.
Pay, Allowances & Seva Nidhi Package
Agniveers will receive an attractive financial package with a fixed yearly increment throughout their four-year service tenure:

Selection Process – Stage I & Stage II
The selection process for Agniveer (Apprentice) 01/2027 and 02/2027 batches involves two stages:
STAGE I – Indian Navy Entrance Test (INET 2/2026)
- Separate exams will be conducted for Engineering and Electrical streams.
- Computer-based test with 100 objective-type (multiple-choice) questions of 01 mark each.
- Bilingual question paper (Hindi & English) covering four sections: English & General Awareness, Science, Mathematics, and Diploma (Trade Specific).
- Duration: 01 hour. Candidates must pass in all sections as well as in aggregate.
- Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted per wrong answer.
- Centre Allocation: At the discretion of the Indian Navy. State preferences must be indicated during registration.
STAGE II – Physical Fitness Test (PFT), Written Examination & Recruitment Medical
- Physical Fitness Test (PFT): Mandatory for selection. Candidates undergo PFT at their own risk.

- Proficiency in sports, swimming, and extra-curricular activities is desirable.
- Stage II Written Exam: 100 questions, 01 mark each, bilingual, 01 hour. Conducted for PFT-qualified candidates. Separate exams for Engineering and Electrical streams.
- Recruitment Medical Examination: Carried out for all Stage II qualifiers.
- Provisional Select List: Prepared based on Stage II written exam performance, subject to qualifying PFT and Recruitment Medical Examination. Merit list is state-wise.
- Pre-Enrolment Medicals: Final medical formalities conducted at INS Chilka, Odisha.
Medical & Physical Standards
- Minimum Height: 157 cm (height relaxations available as per rules at joinindiannavy.gov.in).
- Visual Standards: Uncorrected Vision – 6/12, 6/12 | Corrected Vision – 6/6, 6/6 | Colour Perception – CP PASS.
- Tattoos: Permanent body tattoos are only permitted on the inner face of forearms (inside of elbow to wrist) and on the reversed side of palm/back (dorsal) side of hand. Tattoos on any other body part will result in rejection.
- General Health: Candidates must be in good physical and mental health, free from any disease or disability likely to interfere with efficient performance of duties both ashore and afloat under peace and war conditions.
- Candidates with predominant characteristics of the opposite gender or those who have undergone gender reassignment surgery will be declared UNFIT.
Examination Fee
- Examination Fee: ₹550/- (Rupees Five Hundred Fifty only) + 18% GST, payable online during Stage I – INET application.
- Payment Modes: Net Banking, Visa/Master/RuPay Credit/Debit Card, or UPI.
- Admit Card will be issued only to candidates who successfully pay the examination fee.
- Fee once paid is non-refundable under any circumstances and cannot be held in reserve for any other examination.
- No separate fee for Stage II process.
- Optional CSC Upload: Application may be uploaded from Common Service Centres (CSC) across the country at a fee of ₹80 + GST (entirely optional).
How to Apply – Indian Navy Agniveer Apprentice 2026
- Visit the official website: https://joinindiannavy.gov.in from 05 June 2026 (10:00 hrs) to 29 June 2026 (17:00 hrs).
- Click on ‘Register’ and register as AVR (Apprentice). Once registration is successful, click on ‘Login’ → Agniveer (Apprentice) → INET 2/26 and proceed to apply.
- Upload the laest passport-size colour photograph (taken not before May 2026), size 10 KB to 50 KB. A live photograph will also be captured via webcam during the application form filling.
- Fill all details carefully — incorrect declaration of information identified at any stage will result in cancellation of candidature.
- Sponsor Candidates and NCC ‘C’ Certificate Holders must upload their original certificates during the application process. Verified candidates shall be exempted from Stage I – INET exam and directly issued call-up letters for Stage II.
- Do NOT submit multiple applications,
- State preference for examination centre must be given during registration. Centre allocation is at the Indian Navy’s discretion and cannot be changed once selected.
- Candidates will be provided a correction window after the application closes and an additional 02-day correction window post-INET exam.
- All selected candidates must produce original documents at INS Chilka. Any mismatch between online application details and original certificates will result in cancellation.
