Eligibility Criteria:
Educational Qualification:
- Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Engineering Degree or its equivalent from a Central Govt./State Govt. recognized Institution/University.
- The valid engineering disciplines include: Telecommunications, Electronics, Radio, Computer, Electrical, Information Technology (IT), and Instrumentation.
- Alternatively, candidates possessing an M.Sc. (Electronics) or M.Sc. (Computer Science) are also eligible to apply.
- Candidates possessing higher qualifications like M.Tech in the prescribed disciplines are also eligible to appear in the examination.
Age Limit:
- Candidates must be a minimum of 20 years of age.
- Candidates must not exceed 30 years of age as on the closing date of receipt of application (03.07.2026).
Age Relaxation:
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): +3 years
- SC / ST: +5 years
- PwBD (Unreserved/EWS/OBC-CL): +10 years
- PwBD (OBC-NCL): +13 years
- PwBD (SC / ST): +15 years

Salary Details:
- The recruited Junior Telecom Officer (Telecom) will be placed in the IDA pay scale [E-1] of ₹ 16,400 to ₹ 40,500/-.
- This is based on the 2nd PRC pay scale effective from 01.01.2007.
Selection Process
The Selection process for the BSNL JTO post will consist of the following stages:
- Computer based-Multiple Choice-Objective Type Test (CBT)
- Document Verification (DV)
- Medical Examination Candidates should also note that upon selection, they must execute a bond of ₹ 6,00,000/- (Rupees Six Lakhs) to serve BSNL for a period of at least five years. There will be a mandatory training period consisting of JTO Phase-I (10 weeks), Field Training (4 weeks), and JTO Phase-II (6 weeks).
Application Fee:
- Unreserved (UR) / OBC / EWS Candidates – ₹ 2000/- (Rupees Two Thousand only)
- SC / ST / PwBD Candidates – ₹ 1000/- (Rupees One Thousand only)
- The fee must be paid through online modes like Internet Banking, Credit Card, or Debit Card.
Apply Procedure:
- Candidates will be required to apply strictly online through the dedicated BSNL external exam portal: www.externalexam.bsnl.co.in.
- No other means or mode of application will be entertained or accepted.
- Candidates must register themselves on the portal using a valid Email ID and Mobile Number for OTP verification.
- Applicants must upload scanned copies of their recent passport-size color photograph (20kb-50kb) and signature (10kb-20kb) in jpg/jpeg format.
- During registration, candidates must provide up to 21 BSNL Circle preferences from the drop-down menu in their desired order. Opting for all 21 circles increases selection chances based on merit.
- After the closing date, an Application Editing Window will be opened for 7 days (04.07.2026 to 11.07.2026) for candidates to edit selective fields.
