Eligibility Criteria:

Make sure you check the qualification requirements for your chosen trade before applying.

  • Plant Operator: You need to have passed HSC (Class 12) or ISC with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in the Science stream, scoring at least 50% marks in aggregate. English must have been one of your subjects at SSC (Class 10) level. This is a 12th-pass entry route and does not require an ITI certificate.
  • Electronics Mechanic, Instrumentation Mechanic, Electrician, Fitter, Turner, Machinist & Welder: For all these technical trades, the minimum educational requirement is SSC (Class 10) with at least 50% marks individually in Science and Mathematics subjects. In addition, you must hold a 2-year ITI certificate in the relevant trade from a recognised institution. If your ITI course was shorter than 2 years, then 1 year of post-course work experience in the relevant area is mandatory. Note that a 3-year National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) will not be accepted as a substitute for a 2-year ITI.
  • English Requirement: Regardless of trade, English must have been one of your studied subjects at SSC (Class 10) level. This is mandatory for all disciplines.
  • Marks Calculation Note: For candidates whose 10th results in 2021 were declared pass without awarding percentage due to COVID-19, the 50% marks requirement in Science and Maths will not apply. Your aggregate percentage will be calculated across all subjects and semesters — 59.99% is treated as 59%, not 60%.
  • Physical Standards: Minimum height of 160 cm and minimum weight of 45.5 kg are required. These are relaxable if you are otherwise medically fit as certified by NPCIL’s medical officer.

The age bracket for this recruitment is fairly specific — candidates must be between 18 and 24 years of age. Age will be reckoned as on the application closing date, 29 June 2026.

  • Important: The fee is non-refundable. Verify your eligibility before making payment.

Selection Process:

The selection happens in three stages. You must clear each stage to move to the next.

  • Stage 1 — Preliminary Test (Online, 1 Hour): 50 MCQ questions covering Mathematics (20), Science (20), and General Awareness (10). Each correct answer earns 3 marks; each wrong answer deducts 1 mark. Maximum: 150 marks. Qualifying marks: 40% for UR/EWS and 30% for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD. This is a screening round common to all trades.
  • Stage 2 — Advanced Test (Online, 2 Hours): 50 MCQ questions (150 marks, same marking scheme). Plant Operator trade: HSC (Class 12) level questions. All other trades: questions based on ITI trade syllabus. The final merit list is prepared based on Stage 2 marks only. Both Stage 1 and Stage 2 are held on the same day without a break. Qualifying marks: 30% for UR/EWS and 20% for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD.
  • Stage 3 — Document Verification: Candidates shortlisted from the merit list (up to 3 times the vacancies in each trade) will be called for document verification. Only candidates clearing this stage will be finally empanelled.
